2013 CONCERT – CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!

Congratulations to all Woodford Primary school students, parents, teachers and staff members on a fantastic concert last Thursday evening. I was so proud of the students who certainly gave their absolute all in rehearsals and on the evening to produce so many wonderful acts after only 3 days of practice. They all worked together so well and the whole school produced such and amazing team effort to have everything come off without a single hitch.

Woodford Primary School is so lucky to have extremely supportive teachers, parents and families who all band together to create such a wonderful sense of belonging and community. My personal thanks to each and every one of you.

WALA Performance

On the 22nd of May 2013, a group called WALA from Ghana, West Africa came and performed for us. The performance was a music performance and was all about dances and songs from Ghana . Everyone had a great time and the teachers also got the chance to learn a dance. All the kids cracked up laughing throughout the performance. Some kids even got to dance and play some of the drums with the people who came to us from Ghana. The WALA group has been performing for around about 20 years. WALA has also performed at about 150 schools in the past 20 years. They also wear traditional costumes when they perform but they have to modify them a bit. We think the performance was great and that they did a wonderful job at what they showed us on Wednesday. Thanks to Mrs Dowie for organising the performance for us. Also thanks to the 3 guys who came from Ghana to perform.

WALA Performance

On Wednesday 22nd of May the WALA group came and performed for us. If you don’t know what WALA means it means life. At the performance they showed us a large variety of dances and songs. They also had a variety of activities for the children and teachers. The performance was great fun. Because almost everyone got an activity to do and everyone else got to dance and sing. Although it was obviously a highlight when the teachers had to get up and dance! The WALA performance was a great activity for the middle of education week as it took up an hour of time. The teachers enjoyed it. The students definitely enjoyed it and the performers looked like they had a great time showing us their musical skills. Not only did it give us a great reason to laugh but it also taught us about African instruments and their culture.

Chris James Performance

Chris James Performance at Brauer College

On Tuesday 7th May, Woodford P.S. went to Brauer to
sing with Chris. Chris travels around the world teaching
others the meaning of singing. Today it was Woodford’s
turn. We did a lot of singing and we also learnt that
singing comes from the body as well as your voice box. It
was an amazing experience just listening to his amazing
voice. We did a lot of singing as well as body
movements. Also, after he taught us a couple of tips and
tricks, we went to the Botanical Gardens to have a picnic
lunch. It was all great fun.

Chris James performance at Brauer College

On Tuesday the 7th of May the whole school went to
Brauer College for a musical performance. Joining us
was Grassmere Primary School. Chris the instructor
taught everyone about singing and how we can express
our voice. Chris has been to many places around the
world teaching kids and adults. He has been teaching
people for 41 years. It was great fun to be able to learn
how to sing with Chris because he had great talents with
his singing knowledge. After the performance we went to
the Botanical Gardens to have our lunch and after that
we had a play.
